RJ Thieneman prides itself on being a multi-generational, family-run business. It all started with RJ and Faye Thieneman and their passion for the real estate industry over 60 years ago. They shared their work ethic with their children, who now run the business. Over the past few years generation three has become more involved thus piquing the interest of generation four. This summer we have been lucky enough to have Tommy Jones, a fourth generation, working with the company.
Tommy is a rising junior at Trinity High School in Louisville. This summer Tommy has been working in the company doing a variety of things- taking inventory of storage areas, grounds keeping, power washing and assisting with commercial invoicing. During his time here Tommy said his favorite thing to work on was the inventory of the storage closet. He said, “I was able to take on a project and make it my own. I enjoyed organizing and sorting everything because I looked at it like a puzzle.”
In the future Tommy would like to come back and continue working with the company. He has aspirations to pursue an education at the Air Force Academy after high school.
Tommy is not the only Thieneman to take an interest in the company. Stacy Conley, a third generation Thieneman, was the first to participate in RJ Thieneman’s Apprentice Builder Program. You can read about her experience here. We also had the pleasure of having Alan Thieneman, a third generation, as our first intern. As RJ Thieneman grows we strive to involve younger generations in the family business.
