There’s always been a strong importance of personal health and wellness. Nowadays, there has been a particular emphasis on employee wellness. It is said to be extremely vital for people that spend more than an average of 8 hours in the workplace. Statistics prove that 80% of Americans work in jobs that require little or no physical activity.
Wellness is an idea that can be built into a company’s culture and incorporated into the organization. It doesn’t need to be something fancy-schmanzy or super expensive. There are so many different ways to incorporate living a healthy lifestyle in the workplace. Sometimes you become so busy and caught up in the normal and fast-paced schedules, you fail to recognize the need for some sort of balance in your day-to-day lives.
Lots of companies offer subsidized gym memberships that sometimes goes to waste because individuals are so focused on work, family and everyday issues that they don’t have the “time” to work out or be healthy. The advantages of adding in a wellness program to your company is that it creates personalized options for employees while they’re at work. No excuses! Every Friday for the past three months, the RJ Thieneman group has brought in 502 Yoga and been participating in this new journey of office wellness.
Reaching out to Mary, Controller/Human Resource Manager, I was able to get some insight on how Friday yoga has truly influenced the office.
“I love the idea that we care about our employee’s health and well-being. It’s part of the RJT culture and values. Promoting wellness has so many beneficial results for employees- improved health and morale, lower stress. But it also benefits the company- higher productivity, employee retention, potentially lower healthcare costs. And I truly believe that our Friday yoga has made us a better team. We work hard at RJT, but we also get healthier and have fun together.”
Our marketing partners, Via Studio, told us to see what yoga could truly do for us mentally and physically. It’s been a great addition to our work-life. An article published by Louisville Business First discusses the change its made in Via Studio to increase physical fitness in the workplace. You can read more about it here.
