This new series highlights the craftsmanship and dedication that these custom home builders put into their one-of-a-kind homes! In this series, we hope to give some insight and clarity about our builders and how they could potentially help you, by asking them questions about their careers. The Reserve at Fox Run is the newest development in the RJ Thieneman residential portfolio and a brand new “playground” for these skilled builders. We are proud to announce that three homes are underway in The Reserve at Fox Run! With many more lots available, there are endless possibilities for a custom home for you!

Our first builder is the Clifford Thieneman Company. “Clifford Thieneman Co. has built its prestigious reputation by providing Kentuckiana with excellence in home building for over 50 years. Our dedication to honesty, integrity, and quality of service makes Clifford Thieneman Co. the premier custom home builder in the Louisville area”. That quote taken from their website, shows the pride and dedication that has been put into the business for so many years.

As a kid, Pete vividly remembers helping with painting houses and running errands for different building projects when his father, Clifford, founded the company in 1963. Within the last 50 years, the industry has drastically changed. New products, technologies, techniques, and designs have constantly emerged. That is what Clifford loves the most, the variety. He says by being a builder, it allows for a unique way to tap into your creative side and your practical side. The creativity is the fun part that keeps every day different!

They find the managerial side to be the most difficult. Since there are a multitude of people needed to build a home, scheduling can be challenging and at times frustrating. Weather is the other factor that causes the most headaches. One can’t control the weather, which naturally slows down the overall process. Clifford and Pete have learned that patience and persistence is key.

When asked about a favorite project, they had a simple response; there are too many. Their favorite part is working with the individual customer and making their dreams come true; by turning their client’s ideas into a design and building it into reality. That is the most rewarding part of the job.

After being in business for 50+ years, it is understandable to have repeat business. Clifford says that with any family-owned business, word-of-mouth is the best advertising. He plans on the company running indefinitely. With Pete’s two sons looking to take over the business, a third generation will guarantee it’s vitality into the future. Pete is excited to see where his sons take the company and how it will positively impact the community for the future. Louisville is their home and the greater community is important to the family. Giving back is another important and rewarding aspect. They have worked through the BIA Charitable Foundation on projects within the community such as building homes in the West End for those in need. “Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.” Deuteronomy 15:10. That verse sums up Clifford and the work they do.
