HBAL.com ReDesign, with Dave Ernst, chairman of Technology Committee
Louisville Builder announced the HBAL.com website redesign in their November 2011 issue. The article mentions that their current website is not easily navigated and the search features are quite bulky. Since, the last time the site was revamped was in 2007, HBAL decided it was time for a refresh.
Our own Bob Thieneman, Jr., who is also the treasurer of HBAL, remarked on the importance of a clear web presence in the article. “If you don’t have a strong web presence, you’re cutting off a large part of the market.” (p. 6)
R.J. Thieneman builder, developer, and Louisville Realty Group realtor, Dave Ernst, has been an integral part of the redesign decision and process according to the article. Ernst serves as chairman for HBAL’s Technology Committee.
He states, “The challenge is to make the membership database more usable for our members and to make the website easier to search. Secondary to that is to make it easy for a consumer to find HBAL members that can meet their needs. We want to facilitate business to business commerce whereby tradesmen or associate members could find builders to market to, as well as making sure that a consumer could find tradespeople or vendors.” (p. 7)
In addition to these goals, some key improvements to the site will be better search functionality, easier navigation, user-friendly event and class calendar, better organized resources for members, and improved consumer guidance.
VIA studio was chosen by the Technology Committee, through blind review format, as the developer for the new site. As this design gets closer and closer to completion, be on the lookout for more exciting announcements and updates that will benefit every HBAL member.

HBAL Sales & Marketing Council Awards
Louisville, KY—The Home Builders Association of Louisville (HBAL) held their 26th Annual Sales & Marketing Council (SMC) Awards Ceremony on January 24. Members gathered together at the Hurstbourne Country Club to honor the winners for 2011.
Rock Springs was awarded the Best Single Family Development Under 300 Homes. The Rock Springs community has been recognized many times past for its unique homes and one-of-a-kind, award-winning entryway.
Louisville Realty Group also walked away from the event as a big winner! Louisville Realty Group won three awards: Best Logo Design of the Year in the Realtor/Developer category; Best Web Site for the Realtor category; and Best Newspaper Print Advertising in the Realtor/Developer category.

New Section of Rock Springs Now Open
Louisville, KY—RJ Thieneman announces the opening of a new section in its Rock Springs development in northeastern Jefferson County. Section 3a consists of 35 home sites, including several wooded walkout lots, a common area and a second entrance to the subdivision. The newly landscaped entrance is on Hitt Road, about a quarter-mile north of Hwy. 22, allowing access through the western side of the subdivision via Pebble Creek Drive. Engineering is currently underway in Section 3b, which is expected to open in early 2011.
The Rock Springs main entrance on Hwy. 22, about a mile east of The Summit, features an award-winning waterfall design that has drawn quite a bit of favorable attention to the subdivision since it opened last year. It is not uncommon to find the occasional photographer using the entry feature as the backdrop for family snapshots.
With the volume of visitors generated by the entry feature and the unique collection of home styles, along with the Rock Springs below-market financing program and simplicity of the neighborhood’s home-purchasing process, it has come as no surprise to the developer and its family of builders that Rock Springs has emerged as one of the most popular new developments in the area.
